Kingdom Hearts Iii Gummi Ship Funny
The Gummi Ship in Kingdom Hearts 3 introduces an interesting side mechanic to the game that lets you fight the heartless in space. While this has been present throughout the series it's seen a number of improvements that make it particularly fun this time around.
For those that may be struggling or if you're holding your own but want to cut down on the grinding time a little bit here are some tips you should keep in mind. Start applying a few of these and you'll be a dangerous adversary in the space lanes between worlds.
10 Treasure Spheres
While flying around in space you'll sometimes come across large golden spheres floating in the middle of nowhere. These are Treasure Spheres and you absolutely want to tackle them as they can drop a hoard of materials for your Gummi ships.
You crack them open by completing a mini game. It's a puzzle that has you rearrange the pieces to create connections between the mini hubs. None of them are particularly difficult and it is well worth your time to puzzle these out for the huge rewards.
9 Teeny Ship Formation
Your ship can be accompanied by smaller Teeny Ships that act as wingmen in battle. They'll fly with you to provide some added damage which may not be all that impressive on it's own, when combined with yours will add up over time.
They can be flown in different formations, but there are only two that are worth your while. Keep them wide so they add better cover fire when facing groups and side-by-side to concentrate fire against bosses or other specific targets.
8 Moogle Shop Blueprints
The Moogle Shops offer a number of blueprints for you to buy that give you a prebuilt ship. They come in various flavors such as incredible speed at the cost of durability, high tanking with less offense and so on.
Generally speaking buying these blueprints aren't really worth your time. They can be powerful ships but they are often very expensive and even more costly to build requiring a lot of resources. Unless you're going for aesthetics or you're swimming in resources stick to the default ship or better options as you'll see in later entries.
7 Custom Builds
Alternatively you can custom make your own ship and this can be powerful depending on your design. Granted block for block any custom ship you make will struggle to compare against high-end blueprints, but they can be made at significantly less cost making them the economical choice while holding their own.
You also have the advantage of designing a ship built around your playstyle. A ship is only useful if you can feasible use it. It doesn't matter if the offensive stats are better if you keep dying under a hail of enemy lasers every time you fly it.
6 Customized Moogle Ships
If you don't want to build your own ship from scratch, but your also not too fond of what blueprints are being offered than there is a middle ground. Simply buy the blueprint that closely matches your desired ship design and then tweak the design yourself.
This gives you a solid frame work to build off of. Instead of designing an entire wing section you're just switching out a few blocks. This is certainly the most expensive option, but can be powerful if you have the resources.
5 Constellation Hunting
If you just want a strong ship to fly and don't want to bother customizing anything or spending a considerable amount of time farming then you need to go Constellation hunting. In each area of space is a constellation that when you take a picture of will net you a secret ship.
They cost significantly less than a regular ship and have much better stats. The only downside is they can't be customized at all, but theses are powerful enough ships you wont need to.
4 Endymion Is The Only One You Need
The Endymion is easy to get early on and is strong enough to carry you through the rest of the game. Not saying the endgame boss fights will be easy, but they are manageable with this ship. It has a decent balance of stats with enough offense to take down the toughest of foes.
To get the Endymion you need to unlock the Misty Stream and look for it near the Caribbean world. It'll be on the boundary against the ring and shouldn't be too hard to spot.
3 Repair Kit Is King
The Special Weapons will dramatically improve your offensive and defensive capabilities. Many are worth seeking out, such as the Twin Shot, and the most useful will depend on the ship your using and playstyle. But the Repair Kit should be considered essential for all players.
When activated it will repair half of the Gummi Ship's max HP which is great for fragile offensive ships and makes bulky craft almost impossible to cut down. You get it by defeating the Dreadshark, found by Monster's Inc World, with at least a B ranking.
2 Golden Highwind To Breeze Through Everything
If the Endymion just isn't cutting it for you then you can go after the Golden Highwind, easily the most powerful Gummi Ship in the game. Getting it is a bit of trick as you must travel to the greenish blue tornado in the heart of the Misty Stream.
There you'll face the Schwarzgeist, the toughest space boss in the game. But manage to defeat it and you'll have the toughest ship that'll chew through future space battles with easy and likely be handy in upcoming DLC.
1 Remember It's Entirely Optional
If you find yourself getting frustrated with the space fights, outfitting Gummi Ships, tracking down constellations or the massive amounts of grinding then don't do it. This feature of the game is entirely optional, unlike previous titles, and you can jump straight to the next world or place you're trying to go without getting behind the cockpit.
If you're still having trouble even after following the above tips then don't feel weird for skipping it. It was meant to be a fun side feature for players to enjoy when not slicing enemies with the keyblade or exploring the Disney universe and it's not meant for everyone.
